The LEED for Neighborhood Development Rating System integrates the principles of smart growth, urbanism and green building into the first national system for neighborhood design.

This workshop is taught by Eliot Allen of Criterion Planners in Portland, Oregon. Eliot is an official USGBC LEED Faculty who is a LEED for Neighborhood Development and facilitation expert

Eliot is an urban and regional planner who established Criterion in 1979 and has since helped create plans for vibrant and resilient places throughout North America, ranging from Atlanta’s award-winning regional land-use vision to Vancouver BC’s innovative climate protection strategy. He oversees Criterion’s professional services and leads the firm’s public engagement assignments. Eliot was a charter member of the American Institute of Certified Planners, and is a former chair of the Portland Sustainability Commission.  He is currently a member of the USGBC Location & Planning TAG and LEED Faculty; a core committee member of the Sustainable Sites Initiative; and an advisory board member at the Remaking Cities Institute of Carnegie Mellon University.  Eliot is a co-recipient of EPA's Climate Protection Award for the Chula Vista CO2 Reduction Plan, and the CNU Charter Award for the Smart Code.
