LEED 259: Best of Greenbuild: Multi-Variate Study of Stormwater BMPs

Welcome to the USGBC Colorado Metropolitan Branch – CE Book Camp Webinar Session. This is our day of continuous webinars to meet your LEED CE requirements and AIA hours in a cost effective environment.

Stormwater Best Management Practices (BMPs) are systems that capture stormwater runoff near the point of generation, slow runoff rates, increase infiltration, and remove pollutants. Completed in March 2011, the BNIM Team’s research of BMP performance examines rain gardens, infiltration basins, and stormwater treatment trains in the Midwest. Research conclusions include the analysis of BMP performance, the evaluation of vegetation and soil composition, and recommended design modifications to improve treatment, infiltration, and storage.

Learning Objectives:
•To promote the use of Best Management Practices for integrating stormwater management into landscape designs
•Explore how sustainable design features such as BMP layout, soils, and vegetation affect the performance of the system for managing water and removing pollutants
•To determine what level of maintenance standards affect the success of the systems
•To share lessons learned to help improve site designs for LEED stormwater credits

Reporting Information:
LEED Specific: BD+C, ND
CE Hours: 1.5 hours
AIA CREDIT: 1.5 AIA/CES LU/HSW/SD hours
CMP Category: Water Management
