The (AIA CES learning unit) seminar ASHRAE Standard 90.1 Explained, will address the following:

  • The three basic energy compliance paths in the Standard
  • The common section which must be met, regardless of compliance path
  • When asked to perform a U-factor calculation of an envelope assembly, which Appendix to refer for helpful information
  • Two differences between Chapter 11 (Energy Cost Budget Method) and Appendix G (Performance Rating Method) and how they relate to LEED requirements

In addition the seminar will touch upon:

  • Energy modeling as a “design assistance” tool in an integrated design process
    • With a focus on high-performance envelope/facade design

If time permits:

  • The new ASHRAE 189.1 - a new standard for the design of high-performance green buildings that is set to revolutionize the building industry
  • Getting to net-zero!
