What happens when you allow an environmentally focused engineering firm to collaborate on their building renovation with local woodworkers, the City’s Forestry department, and an interior designer with a passion for sustainability? The beautiful results can be seen at Brendle Group’s newly renovated office located at 212 West Mulberry Street in Old Town Fort Collins. This green rebuild – for which Brendle Group is pursuing LEED certification for New Construction and Major Renovations -- showcases scrap wood turned into artistic custom pieces, examples of innovative sustainable wood finishes, and a unique story of urban wood reuse. Join us for Green ‘n Grub, an educational outreach program hosted by the Northern Colorado branch of the USGBC, as local artisan woodworkers Tyler Morris and Ryan Baldwin discuss their vision and work with Brendle Group involving salvaged and reused wood.
Speakers and Host:
As a certified arborist and craftsman, Ryan Baldwin is becoming known for his heirloom furniture pieces utilizing reclaimed wood from trees in Northern Colorado that must be removed due to damage, illness, old age, or development. He utilizes a homemade solar kiln and mills each piece by hand to accentuate the tree’s special characteristics, color, texture, grain, age, species, and physical form.
Tyler Morris became interested in woodworking and furniture design while studying at Colorado State University where he earned a degree in Wood Science and Technology. He opened his wood shop in the summer of 1997. Tyler Morris Woodworking is now a four-person team operating in Fort Collins, Colorado building strong and functional products with simple, timeless aesthetics.
