Construction Waste Management

Explore the updated City of Fort Collins Green Building Code requirements related to construction waste management. Becca will discuss why the code was implemented, how the code effects new construction in Fort Collins, and offer tools to create the required Construction Waste Management Plan. April will walk you through how to set up a construction waste management program on your construction site. She will offer tips and tricks for a successful program of high diversion rates.

The Presenters:
April is the Projects Manager at the Institute for the Built Environment with expertise in integrated design, green building strategies, sustainable operations and maintenance, and LEED certification. Often referred to as the in-house "LEED Therapist," she has assisted clients with successful implementation of sustainable design and operations for over 30 existing and/or new construction building projects, public and private. Additionally, she is a teacher and mentor to the graduate student interns at IBE.

Becca is the Sustainability Coordinator for Gallegos Sanitation Incorporated. She advises commercial and residential builders on recycling and reuse of waste, creates construction waste management plans, handles contamination issues, and compiles project waste reports. Becca also works with businesses and organizations to implement diversion programs for both new and existing buildings.
