HOMES 202: Numbers, Know How and Navigating LEED in Affordable Housing

LEED Certified Affordable Housing: It gets better every time

50% of projects certified under the LEED for Homes program are classified as affordable housing projects. This shows that affordability and green is not only feasible, but goes hand in hand.

Flexibility of LEED is one of its strengths; the possibilities exist for project teams to pursue credits and points that are less cost-effective than others. We’ll be discussing those credits that deliver maximum financial and health benefits to occupants, allowing project teams to make more educated decisions in the pursuit of LEED. You will learn the benefits, challenges and lessons learned directly from teams who have implemented LEED on a series of affordable housing developments. Presenters will walk you through their very own learning curves, helping you make the more cost-effective, impactful decisions the first time.

Course Objectives:
•Identify green certification trends for affordable housing developments.

•Identify LEED credits that are most common and feasible for affordable housing developments to achieve.

•Identify challenges for affordable housing projects pursing LEED certification.

•Identify best practices in navigating the LEED for Homes certification process from affordable housing project teams.
